Looking from the Russian Federation to Turkey, Turkey’s relations with primarily USA, the West, and especially NATO are one of the most influential variables in the relations between Turkey and the Russian Federation. ‘Eurasianist ideacracy’, which had significantly marked the foreign policy of the Russian Federation, has evaluated Turkey, due to its NATO membership, as a 'Rimland' or 'coastal zone' country which affiliated to rival Atlanticist bloc.
