Abstract

This study intends to reveal what situations and circumstances cause stress for candidate math teachers having pedagogical formation education during their undergraduate education. In this research was used descriptive research method, one of the non-experimental research designs. Utilizing the purposive sampling method, thirty candidate math teachers having formation education in a state university constitute the working group. Data were collected by using a form including personal information and an open-ended question, ‘What are the sources of stress for candidate math teachers?’ In the analysis of the data obtained was utilized content analysis. Opinions obtained from candidate teachers were coded and categorized taking the similarities and differences into account. As a result of the analyses, the most important factors appearing to be sources of stress for candidate teachers were found to be anxiety about not to be appointed, lack of social facilities both in the city they live and the university they study, financial reasons, negative behaviors of teachers lecturing the course and adverse conditions stemming from their personal characteristics.
