Through analysis of social documentary photography and artwork of Fikret Otyam, this study aims at addressing to the following questions: What is documentary photography? What is social documentary photography, and how it varies from documentary photography? What are the societal and social conditions that contributed to the artistic personality of Fikret Otyam and led him to become a social documentary photographer? To answer these questions document analysis method of qualitative research design is employed.
