Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the position of the readers in the text by touching on the changes, which occurred in the cast of characters with the existence of postmodern novels. Taking into account the reflections of the change of mentality with postmodern philosophy in the novel art, explanations are made about the general spirit of the narration as a new form. Accordingly, classical and modern novels were compared with postmodern narratives in the theoretical basis. It is seen that the reader who becomes the main part of postmodern novels/narratives with the transformation in the cast of characters in particular, has included and/or approached the text with different identities. Beyaz Kale, which is one of the works that this usage has successfully been practiced in Turkish literature, has been chosen as the main text to analyze since it reflects different types of readers with variable identities.
