Abstract

This study aims at revealing export competitiveness of the G20 countries according to the SICT technology classification in raw material intensive, labour intensive, capital intensive, easily imitable and difficultly imitable research oriented goods. In this context, we use export data of the G20 countries for 1996-2014 period and analyse this data employing Balassa’s Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index for nineteen years. Our results suggest that Saudi Arabia and Russia are competitive in raw material goods while India and Turkey are competitive in labour intensive goods. We also find that South Africa and Japan are competitive in capital intensive goods while China and England are competitive in easily imitable goods. Finally, Japan and South Korea appear to competitive in export of difficultly imitable research oriented goods.
