Abstract

In the last years studies about ‘’comparative literature’’ have attracted more interest worldwide and in our country as well. However, it was seen that studies about comparative Turkish literature were not at sufficient levels. We see, as a plain field, studies that will be done in the form of comparing classical Turkish literature and folk literature. In this context, the subject of our paper is the comparison of hiciv in classical Turkish poetry and taşlama in Turkish folk literature and their works. Folk literature poets and Dîvân poets wanted to express their personal hatred and anger; social and political drawbacks; moral corruptions, deteriorations in state institutions. Besides, desiring a world that is worth living, poets stood against lie, hypocrisy, bribery, theft, ignorance, thus all evils in summary and expressed this without fear. In this context, it is seen that they have a protesting attitude. In our paper, we will refer to concepts of hiciv and taşlama, and then the subjects and social functions of the poems will be dealt with. Lastly, the poems will be classified generally, and two kinds of poetry generated in this way will be compared in terms of form and content. In order to put more examples, some parts of the poems will be included in our study rather than the whole.
