Abstract

The sample group of this study, which was conducted in order to determine emotional intelligence levels of university students in different degree programs and some factors affecting their emotional intelligence levels, consisted of a total of 390 student in various programs of Cukurova University Adana Vocational School in the academic year of 2015-2016. Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory and General Information Form were used to obtain the data. At the end of the study, it has been concluded that students of Child Care and Youth Services Program have the highest and students of Textile Technologies Program have the lowest average emotional intelligence scores, emotional intelligence scores increase as the average age of students increase, there is a positive relationship between average emotional intelligence scores and social activity frequency, children of parents with a democratic attitude had higher average score of emotional intelligence and average emotional intelligence scores of girls are higher compared to boys in the subscale of interpersonal relationships.
