Abstract

The clothes of Ottoman period have dazzled of people with their glorious and qualities for centuries and also created resources of our culture. The characteristics of every sect living Ottoman society are to be investigated; however, the studies on “childeren” living in the Ottoman society are usually focused on palace children. The aim of this study is to examine the clothes of the girls in different provinces of the Ottoman Empire between 1850 and 1923 yeras. For this purpose, photographs in the literature and purchased from collectors have been used as material in the study. The characteristics of the clothes of the nineteen girls in eleven different provinces have been represented in this study. It is thought that this study will contribute to field of Ottoman children’s clothing culture by examining the Ottoman period children’s clothes and their features through photograps. At the end of the study, the photographs of the children in the provinces have been taken by both traveller photographers and photographers in the photographer shops. It has seen that there are also common features such as differences in clothes and accessories belonging to girls in the provinces.
