The research group consists of 10 fathers, who participate in this study willingly, live in Şanlıurfa and have a child between 7-8 years old. Phenomenological method from qualitative research methods is used and interview technique is applied in this research. Semi-structured interview questions which intends to determine the fathers’ role in children’s play consists of descriptive questions about participants and, open and close ended questions regarding participation in a play, process of a play and, usage of toys and play materials in a play. Obtained data is analyzed with the help of explanatory themes. Based on fathers’ views, research findings indicate that there is a wide range of father-child plays and, play is important and supportive for child development. Also, research findings show that fathers place emphasis on playing with their children on daily basis, however these plays mostly take place in the home environment. Moreover, research findings indicate that children have an active role in making a play choice. Based on the findings, one of the most important factors affecting the play in a negative sense is working hours of fathers; however fathers stated that participating in children’s play makes them happy.
