Abstract

Language is acrucial means for communication between individuals.The completion of individual development and the ability of expressing individual themselves correctly and in a free mannercan only be provided by an accurate mother tongue education.Educational policies, especially applied to bilingual children, directly affect children's language learning and, accordingly, educational achievement. Many studies performed so far demonstrates that children who learn mother tongue accurately are more successful in their lessonsand learn the second language more smoothly and quickly.Educational policies applied to thechildren born in Franceof immigrant Turks, which are considered as bilingual, especiallyin the context of the ELCO(Teachings of language and culture of origin) program, determine the attitudes of the children to the Turkishlanguage by directlyinfluencing the language acquisition.In this study, attitudes of the children living in France of immigrant Turkstowards mother tongue and Turkish lessons depending on mother language learning and family structure are tried to be observed with a questionnaire study.
