For this purpose, this paper aims to study the content and the intent of the photographs that have been used by 21 daily newspaper for the coup attempt. The study period is July 16-29, 2016. The study includes 2717 photographs in total. After checking if the photographs of coup used by press is in line with the code of ethics, the paper studies the content and the intent of the photographs, there from the photographs are categorized under six established theme and a cross-sectional dataset is constructed. A thorough study of the cross-sectional dataset reveals that all newspapers have demonstrated a common and effective attitude against the coup. Using the "impact" power of photographs, to support the coup attempt news, newspaper editors chose to use large number of photographs. In this study, despite few exceptions, the newspapers have shown a responsible publishing approach and used objective and non-provocative photographs as supporting materials for the coup attempt news.},author={Mustafa BİLGE SATKIN},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Social Sciences}}
