Abstract

In this study, there is a brief and general philosophical evaluation of the relation between language and ethics, especially in a focus on the theory of speech acts of Searle, Austin and Hare, How the speaker uses the language in order to accomplish what he would like to say and what kind of a meaning the listener derives establish the basis of the theory of speech acts. The way they dealt with the theory of speech acts, how they defined what the relation between language and the world is, and how language could be classified with the theory of speech acts have been targeted. In this context, it has been determined language is a characteristic element of all the activities related to mankind, and consequently determines such activities as a person’s acts and intentions, and the relation between language and ethic is set out via the theory of speech acts.
