Abstract

On the occasion of the celebration of 50th anniversary of Turkish immigration in France, minstrels living in Europe play a critical role for transferring national, cultural, religious and moral values that make up our self-identity to the Turkish young people who constitute the new generation of Turkish society in France. The new generation, confronted with the danger of losing their cultural values, is experiencing the problem of diverging from their self-identities due to the erosion of these values. Our minstrels, who previously emigrated to Europe in a way to fulfill the mission that fate had put on them, are cultural watchers with the function of reminding and retransmitting of cultural values to next generation by depending on the tradition. In this study, the life and works of Erzurumlu Minstrel Yaylacı, who is a man of heart living in Colmar city of France, will be considered in the context of the cultural transfer function.
