Abstract

By diagnozing autistic individuals with special musical skills at early ages, it is possible to transform these characteristics into individual and social benefits. Children with autism show unusual sensitivity and attentiveness to music. It is accepted that 10% of autistic people have superior features in some subjects and 1% have extraordinary abilities (Darrow., Armstrong, 1999). Those with advanced hearing abilities can play musical instruments that they have not learned before. In this context, studies on music education of musically gifted autistics carried out in Turkey between 2010 - 2016 were examined. Any work were found on this subject. Later, studies on music education of autistic people without special skills were examined. 3 studies have been determined. It is suggested that studies on professional music education of autistics with special musical skills in Turkey should be increased and special music educators should be trained in this area.
