Abstract

Today, security is perceived as a service assumed by the government, which is in an effort to be abstracted as an external structure, solely for the benefit of social life and individuals. Security problems have become the reason of many problems primarily like cities, urban crimes, violence and inequalities. Discussions that have been made regarding reform studies intended for local governments for years bring the perception of security into question under the influence of the new liberal thought and on the clamp of globalization-localization. In this context; the concept of security is experienced strongly at every point and stage of human life. Even though there is no definite consensus on its definition; security is encountered as an important life element for every individual and every government. Today, human beings are in an effort to provide a more secure, more qualified and more peaceful living space. Thus, the sense of private security has been resorted as a requirement of the needs in question. In this study; it is intended to examine the role of the private security sector in Turkey and its position in the world and propose quality-oriented solutions to problems in the private security sector via literature review.
