Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out elementary school teacher opinions about the professional difficulties faced. A descriptive analysis which is one of the quantitative research methods was carried out. The sample group is composed of 83 elementary school teachers working in Aydın province Efeler district in 2016-2017 educational year and was elected by random sampling. Descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean and standard deviation) were used in the analysis part. The results considering the teachers' opinions revealed that school buildings and classrooms are suitable for education, the classrooms are equipped, the schools and their surroundings are safe, the parents are generally related to the school, the attitude of the school administrations is good and the schools are in peaceful environments. The most common difficulties are found about the school relocations of teachers in or out provincial borders. It has also been determined that the teachers are not able to benefit from the social opportunities given by the Ministry, the monthly incomes are insufficient and the standard of living is low considering to the country’s conditions, unionization rate is high and the union activities are found satisfactory.
