Abstract

Poverty is one of the deepest and growing problems of the world order we live in from day to day. Today, the most important of the poor families' methods of combating poverty is the use of child labor. For this reason, children who grow up in poverty are deprived of their childhood by working on the streets as they are deprived of their basic needs to live, grow and develop well. In this article, the issue of child poverty, which is a working child on the streets, is addressed. Among the jobs that children on the street are doing on the sidewalk, such as collecting paper, water, pretzels, handkerchiefs, shoe polish, weighing, etc. Metaphorically, these kinds of jobs that children we can call pavement professions lack in safety in the streets are leading to many social and psychological problems on child workers. In this study, the research techniques of quantitative and qualitative methods were used together and a questionnaire was made with snowball sampling technique in Ankara-Sincan region with 100 children working on the streets. The resulsts were evaluated by SPSS data analysis program. In addition, the data obtained from the field observations and the data obtained from the non-survey interviews were used with the purpose of the of contribution to the research. In the last part of the study, the solutions to the problems of child poverty in Turkey and the problems of working children working in streets have been mentioned.
