Smoking and alcohol consumption mostly start at this period due to affectation and imitation and sometimes to the effect of circle of friends. Parents’ attitude plays an important role on starting harmful habits especially in adolescence period. The purpose of this study is to search the role of parents’ attitudes on tending towards smoking among teenagers. This is descriptive survey model. The sample of the study consist of 250 students, who were contacted by means of unselected sampling and accept to respond the questions, continue their education at four different high schools in central Konya province. Questionnaire form consists of 37 questions that have been prepared by considering socio-demographic features and related scientific literature. The analysis of the data has been done by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. According to data of the research, which was conducted with total number of 250, 169 male and 81 female participants, a meaningful relationship were detected among “speaking about problems with parents, receiving emotional support and aid from parents”, and “smoking” consumption in terms of statistical dimension. It might be observed that students may tend towards smoking and using alcohol during their adolescence period due to some problems and distresses. In this research, it was detected that those adolescent who share their problems and distresses with parents are less likely to have a tendency of smoking.
