Abstract
"Cinema Novo" is a cinema movement that emerged in Brazil at the end of the 1950s and lasted till 1970s, based on social justice, class conflict and aesthetic innovations and influenced by the Italian New Realism and the French New Wave film movements. In this article, the films of the important directors of the "Cinema Novo" movement such as Glauber Rocha, Nelson Pereira dos Santos, Carlos Diegues and Ruy Guerra, are analyzed.
