Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the level of comprehension of the 4th grade students in primary school with the text questions prepared according to the Bloom taxonomy and the students' opinions on these questions. In this study, «sequental explanatory design as a mixed strategy was used. Two different study groups were studied in this study. Data collection process consists of four phases: Taking Research Permission, Selection of texts and writing the sixth question addressing Bloom Taxonomy Steps, Implementation of questions, Taking opinions of students related with questions. this study has reached the conclusion that the students' upper level thinking skills are weak. Students’ understanding and responses to the questions in the information and story text can be counted in favor of the story text. On the other hand, in these two types of texts, the levels of understanding and answering in cognitive steps are close to each other. According to the socioeconomic level, there was a meaningful difference in understanding and analyzing steps in story texts, but no significant difference was reached in other steps. The majority of the interviewed students stated that they wanted to take such a Turkish course exam. They justified the reason that they found the questions 'fun', they liked to read the text and answer the question.
