Abstract

In general, job satisfaction, which expresses contentment from job, has great importance for the success of organizations. Employees who have higher job satisfaction have the potential to increase job performance by developing extra-role behaviors as well as in-role behaviors. For this reason, the research aims to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior. Organizational citizenship behavior has been examined in two sub-dimensions, individual-oriented and organization-oriented. The data were collected through a questionnaire returned by the employees in nineteen seperate companies operating in different sectors in Konya Industrial Area, including the first five hundred and the second five hundred largest industrial establishments in Turkey. Factor analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted on the data. As a result of the analyzes, there was no significant relation between the individual-oriented organizational citizenship behavior and the job satisfaction of the employees. However, the results show that there is a significant and positive relationship between organization-oriented organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction.
