Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of individuals working at Provincial Directorates of Youth Services and Sports by their place of residence and provinces worked in. The research population consisted of personnel working at Provincial Directorates of Youth Services and Sports in Burdur, Isparta, Denizli, Izmir, Afyon, Uşak, Antalya, Nevşehir, and Balıkesir, and the sample group consisted of a total of 301 individuals selected from this personnel by the random sampling method. In the study, the data were obtained from written sources and by the questionnaire method. As a questionnaire, the “Organizational Commitment Scale” was used to determine the organizational commitment levels of the participants, and the “Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire” (MSQ) was used to determine job satisfaction. The descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H, and Spearman’s correlation analyses were applied to the data obtained in an appropriate statistical program. 0.05 was accepted as the significance level for the determination of intervariable differences in statistical procedures. According to the data obtained, the job satisfaction levels of the participants do not vary significantly by the variable of the place of residence (p>0.05). While there was no statistically significant difference in the job satisfaction levels in the external satisfaction by the variable of the province worked in (p>0.05), a significant difference was observed in the internal satisfaction and general satisfaction levels (p<0.05). While there was no significant difference in the organizational commitment by the places of residence (p>0.05), a significant difference was observed in the organizational commitment by the provinces worked in (p<0.05). Between the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the participants, the emotional commitment level, among the job satisfaction sub-dimensions and organizational commitment sub-dimensions, was not statistically significant (p>0.05). A statistically significant relationship was determined between the internal, external, and general satisfaction and normative, continuance, and organizational commitment (p<0.05). As a conclusion, in accordance with the findings obtained within the scope of the study, it can be said that in general, the job satisfaction and organization commitment scores of the employees are above average, the variable of the province worked in affects both job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and moreover, as the job satisfaction of employees increase, their organizational commitment levels will increase in parallel to this.
