Abstract

Sufficient and balanced nutrion; It ensures maintained healthy living and mental activities, thus contributing to the socio-economic development of the society. In this respect, consumption of red meat comes to the fore as a source of protein in Turkey. However, consumption is lower than in developed countries. Determination of the reasons for this is important both in terms of the individual and the sector. In this study, red meat consumption profile of TR 21 region (Edirne, Tekirdağ, Kırklareli) was determined. In the study carried out on three provinces, a survey was conducted with 1000 individuals. According to this, it has been determined that consumers consume an average of 29,7 kg / month red meat per year. In the present study, binary logit models were used to estimate quantitative factors affecting red meat consumption from probabilistic econometric models. According to this, gender, education, marital status, spouse work status, number of individuals and average income level were found to be statistically significant. It is necessary about the importance of sufficient and balanced nutrition showing the necessary sensitivity by related person to growth healthy generations in the future. In order to be able to do this, it is very important to carry out micro-level scientific studies and present the results to the stakeholders.
