Abstract

Zatî, who lived in the end of the 15th century and in the first half of the 16th century, is one of the most famous and foremost poets, known for poetic and prose works he wrote. Following his Divan, his most known work is Sem’ ü Pervane masnavi. Şem’ ü Pervane is among the classical subjects of classical Persian and Turkish Literature. Mortal, namely, secular love is told only in Zatî’s work among the Şem’ ü Pervane masnavis written in these both literatures. From this aspect, this work attracts attention with its originality among its kinds. Besides, social life which does not appear in any of the Şem’ ü Pervane masnavis, only appears in Zatî’s work. The underlying reason for that is that the masnavi of Zatî is equipped with local characteristics. In his masnavi, it is likely for us to see many social life scenes which appears in the era that he lived. Moreover, the mutual motives, which can be seen in the masnavis which have two characters, are seen in Zatî’s Şem’ ü Pervane masnavi.
