Abstract

The foundations established in Ottoman Empire helped people living in holy lands for centuried. At this point “endowments” and “surra keeps” give very important informations abaoud the services that had been made. Gevherhan Sultan’s, being study subject with endowment, frame of mind was explained by learning her economical situation and her purpose of establishing the foundation. For that, information was recieved abaut who she is and her properties. It was seen that how much aid was made to whom by getting included to the Haremayn service with surra keeps. Within this service framework, “how compatible are surra keeps and amounts in the endowment of Gevherhan Sultan?” this question was answered. Foundations gave informotions abaoud socio-economical and cultural values of nation throughout the history. It was provided to get an idea aboud the role of woman on the basis of social assistance in Ottoman Empire thanks to the study. It was benefited from the survey writings from especially General Directorate of Foundations and Ministry Ottomon Archive. It was provided integrity with the analysis of these informations aboud the subject.
