Abstract

The aim of this research is to give information about Group piano education which contributes to the acquisition and development of functional piano skills needed in music teaching undergraduate education. Group lessons, which enable students to learn basic music knowledge and functional piano skills, and which enable students to learn in self-confidence, are also taught as group piano lessons. Group piano education is a teaching approach that including development of functional skills in the piano in its program and group piano education and can be applied to age groups with different purposes on condition that at least two piano and two students within the group. In addition to performance and technical studies in music education institutions, functional piano skills are also required to be implemented within the scope of the program. The group piano lessons enable the development of functional skills as well as performance skills. In this way, the music teacher candidates will be better prepared for their future professional needs. In the study, it was explained how well the music teachers achieved their goals within the group piano education and general music program, and the group piano education curriculum programs were offered.
