Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the guitar course book tought in 9th grades in Fine Arts high schools.Inourcountry,the 9 the grade guitar course book broughtout in fine arts schools assuming that the guitar is learned for the first time by the learner swhich forms the basis of vocational music education is important as it is in beginner level in calssical guitar education.It consists of four learning domains that are ‘’the basis of playing guitar’’, ‘’ scales,cadence,studies,works’’ ,’’periods in guitar music’’ and ‘’guitar repertoire’’. In this study the book is analyzed in terms of the qualitative research methods.six categoriesare created as playing techniques,duates, Dynamics, meter numbers, speed term and musical expressions all of which are devoted to 2th, 3th and 4th learning domains and these learning domains are analyzed using content analysis technigue and findings are presented in frequency and percent.(%)In the research it is seen that the book includes the history of the guitar, nail care, r,ght and left hand duates ,right positions and right holding of the guitar ,the techniques of apayando and tirando, monophonic and polyphonic practies, 1stposition in guitar and legato exercises devoted to 1st learning domain.It is seen that the book includes scale, cadence, study and work swhich are in cmajor, a minor, gmajor, eminor, f major, d minor tones and in rast, kürdi, hüseyni maqams in 3rd learning domain. It is seen that the book’s 4th learning domain includes musical style features of Renaissance period, of its composers andworks ; the fourth learning domain includes study and work and duos. It’s been given suggestions according to results of the research.
