Abstract

Nowadays, mahlas (the nicknames) that we see in the Divan Literature, which is an important subject of folk literature, continue in social media. On the internet provided by the technology Twitter and Instagram applications as usernames (nick name) is the continuation of nicknames (mahlas) and cognomen lakap When we examine the psychology and sociology of today's youth, the culture of the society we live in, the feelings and thoughts of other disciplines, and the user names they express briefly, we can see that. there are very few differences in nicknames and cognomen. The most important difference is that the cognomen is given by the society and the nicknames is chosen by the person. Despite this important factor, this very little difference can lead us to a culture transfer. The most significant difference is that foreign languages are used in nicknames because of affectation, it is also result of language degeneration, and foreign words are not found in cognomen.
