CRITICAL READING PERCEPTIONS OF GRADUATE AND GRADUATE STUDENTS

Abstract

Information is increasing day by day and reaching this growing information is getting easier every day. It is important for the educated individuals of the society to choose, evaluate and use the right, reliable and fit for this information. The aim of this study was to determine the students' critical reading perceptions. The descriptive survey model and the ”Critical reading self-efficacy scale etmek developed by Karadeniz (2014) were used in the study to obtain descriptive survey model and data. Research population in western Turkey, education and a university which operates research graduate and undergraduate students, the sample of the studying at the university's Faculty of Education and selected randomly 383 undergraduate students, studying at a vocational college 197 undergraduate students has created a total of 580 students. At the end of the study, it was found that the undergraduate and associate degree students' critical self-efficacy perceptions were at the level of agreeing; there is a difference in favor of female students in the sub-dimensions of inquiry, analysis, evaluation and inference, and differences in favor of undergraduate students in the dimensions of inquiry, analysis and evaluation. According to the undergraduate students, the students' perceptions of critical reading self-efficacy are better and the female students are better at critical reading self-efficacy perception.
