Abstract

The rapidly evolving technology to meet the changing human demands and needs, remove borders and offers new communication ways to people. Especially in recent years, the internet has become widespread all over the world and the use of social media has increased. It seems that some social media applications are more popular than others in the world. Instagram is one of the most popular social media in recent years. In this study, it is aimed to examine whether or not Adiyaman University students show differences in terms of Instagram addiction levels. Fundamental variables are gender, faculty, daily and evening module, class, grade average, and income level of the family. In this research, a questionnaire aiming to measure Instagram addiction of university students is being conducted. With this purpose, 470 students who continued their education during the fall semester of 2017-2018 in Adiyaman University are randomly selected as sample. Two sectioned questionnaire is used as data gathering method. In the first section, demographic questions are placed and second section is consisting of the question on their Instagram addiction. Obtained data is analyzed in the SPSS program. T-test and ANOVA analyses are used to examine the effect of demographic variables on Instagram addiction and sub-factors. As a result of the research, the majority of the participant are using Instagram regularly. There are statistically significant differences in the parameters.
