Abstract

In this study, AğırSemâi of Buhurizâde Itrî, one of the biggest composers of Turkish Classical Music and lived between the 17th-18th centuries, in IrakMakam will be analyzed. The subject of the study is analyzing the work in terms of makam, form and lyric-composition relationship. Thus, for preparing to the analysis, information about the description of the Irakmakam in the 17th-18th centuries will be given and the lyrics of the work will be translated into today’s Turkish and will be ensured to be understandable in terms of meaning by being explained briefly. The scope of the evaluation includes relation between the meter of the lyrics and tempo of the work, on the melodythe reflection of meanings ofthe words in the lyricstogether with general meaning, the effect of the lyrics on selecting makam in the work, and the relation between the meaning of the lyrics and singing gentlythe overage and used letter. In conclusion, it was seen from obtained informations that the makam usage of the composer in the work analyzed as an example has some differences from the makam description in his time. It was revealed that he regarded usûl-vezin relation and made relation between lyrics and composition while the practices beyond known rules were stood outin the form of AğırSemaî.
