Abstract

The Medieval Islamic philosophers sometimes has been using the verses of the Qur’an and the hadiths in some their works. The aim of using religious sources is generally to show the existence of an harmony or an unity between philosophy and religion. The Andalusian philosopher Ibn Bajjah makes use of verses and hadiths in order to support his philosophic views even though he does not use them very often. However, he does not aim to show the existence of an accord between philosophy and religion by means of religious sources. Religion or the divine revelation is a supplementary element which complete philosophy. In this study, the philosophic context of verses and hadiths and the place of religion against to philosophy in Ibn Bajjah’s thought are going to be discussed.
