EVALUATION OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE LIFE SATISFACTION BY MARRIAGE AND SEXUAL CONCEPT

Abstract

Marriage provides ;cooperation, solidarity, mutual sexual satisfaction to couples. Most importantly, it is a form of relationship that provides the continuation of the generation. The marriage process; it is a factor that improves the quality of life if individuals adapt to each other. The word harmony has a critical importance in marriage instutition. Another important element of marriage is sexuality. The basic function of sexuality in marriage is to strengthen the closeness, to share the pleasure, to reduce the tension that will occur when dealing with the problems in marriage. Aim: The aim of our study is to investigate the relationship between the sexual satisfaction, life satisfaction and marital adjustment levels of married individuals and to determine whether couples' marital satisfaction, sexual life satisfaction and life satisfaction perceptions differ according to sociodemographic factors. Methods: The study group consisted of 99 women (42.7%) and 133 men (57.3%) who has been living in Istanbul for at least 6 months, married, literate, and will be able to adapt to psychological interviews, evaluations and who were volunteers who signed the informed consent form. The sociodemographic data form was completed and the Marriage Compliance Scale (ESS), the Golombok-Rust Sexual Satisfaction Scale (GRDCD) and the Life Satisfaction Scale (LSS) were applied. The data were analyzed by using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) 23.0 package program. Independent samples T-Test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: It was determined that the life satisfaction of the participants was significantly associated with marital adjustment and sexual satisfaction. While the sexual satisfaction and marital adjustment levels of the participants did not differ according to age; gender, education level, household monthly income level, working status, having a child, marriage period, the marital status of the parents, the way of marriage and the type of marriage were found to be significantly different. Life satisfaction levels did not differ according to the marital status of the parents, length of marriage, age and type of marriage; gender, education level, household monthly income level, working status, having a child and the way of marriage.
