Abstract

Discourse analysis is one of the methods of linguistic analysis, especially in the second half of the 20th century. This method, which finds its source in the archeology and genealogy researches of the French philosopher Michel Foucault, is based on the purpose of analyzing discourse within macro power and micro power relations. In particular, the method of discourse analysis, which is frequently used in today's literary criticism, will be useful in terms of seeing how the discourses in literary works are conditioned by which power (s). This method, thus, can serve to strive for “power-based” dimension of the relationship between literature and society as a whole. At the same time, it can examine the hegemonic structure between the author and the reader, or between the author and the class to which the author belongs, and helps to reveal its basic qualities. In this review, the poems included in the Garip movement will be examined in the light of the analysis of discourse with a general view, and the attempt will be made to describe shortly how the discourse in the poems is conditioned by which macro and micro powers.
