Abstract

Values are acceptances and beliefs which create a sustainable / liveable world for everyone and which enable the adaptation of the individual to the society he/she lives in. The education of the values situated in the education system and reflecting the society’s structural characteristics first stars in the family and later continues at school. The values education taught to children at school are first and foremost sustained by written texts. In This study, which was done in onder to determine the role of the works of Sabahattin Ali, one of the master writers of Turkish literature, on “values education”, “Content Analysis Method” one of the methods of Qualitative Research was used. The findings obtained by viewing some works written in various forms such as stories, plays and novels are reflected on charts and graphics. The values used in the Research are the values National Education Ministry published in Turkish Language and Literature Teaching Pragramme in 2017 as; “justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism and helpfulness.” In conclusion; even if they are just a few, several examples of those ten values mentioned in the teaching Programme are seen in the works of Sabahattin Ali; it is confirmed that the value “love” is used the most whereas the value “justice” is used the least.
