The sample of the study consists of 454 students from Soma County of city of Manisa. “Social Media Use Purposes Scale” developed by Şişman Eren (2014) was used to collect data. The results show that middle and high school students use social media moderately in interpersonal interaction and preparation for their courses. No differences were found between the level of middle and high school students’ use of social media for interpersonal interaction but on the other hand high school students’ use of social media for preparation for their courses was found higher than of middle school students. No differences were found between middle school students’ purposes of social media use both in interpersonal interaction and preparation for their courses in respect to their gender. On the other hand female high school students found to be more involved using social media for the preparation to their courses compare to male high school students.},author={Orhan YENAY-- Levent DENİZ},year={2019},journal={The Journal of Social Sciences}}
