Abstract

Developing communication technologies have changed the communication habits of individuals and also changed the habits of political parties and leaders to communicate with the target audience. Political actors have begun to use new media tools, which come into our lives with web 2.0 technologies as well as traditional media tools in order to convey their messages to target audiences, to get approval of the masses, to prevail over their political rivals and to carry out election campaigns. In developed countries such as the United States of America, one in two uses new communication technologies and offers great opportunities to reach big audiences in presidential elections and to raise funds for their campaigns. In this study, surprise president Donald Trump’s - who won the presidential election in the United States in 2016- the election campaign will be examined within the framework of new media technologies.
