Abstract

Abdülhak Hâmid Tarhan, who played a pioneering role in the modernization of Turkish poetry from the Tanzimat to the Republic, who wrote poems with more individual themes and was shown as the founder of the individualist romanticism in the Turkish literature, remained silent in the social events and transformations of his time. In his poems he opened a door on the axis of a national sensitivity to the events and transformations. Therefore, we can say that there is a partial deviation in his poetry life and this deviation is opened to the social/political. Thus; From the declaration of the Constitutional Monarchy to the Balkan War; from the First World War to the National Struggle, many subjects have somehow appeared in the aesthetic plane of his poems. In this study; the national sentiment in his poems will be examined and the social/political background or sentiment in which this sensitivity is formed will be investigated.
