Abstract

The Russian poetess Elizaveta Ivanovna Dmitrieva published her poems under the pseudonym of Cherubina de Gabriak in autumn 1909. The poet Maximilian Alexandrovich Voloshin who supported the poetesses facing difficulties about issuing their poems in that period in which male domination prevailed in literature took the primary role in creating the myth of Cherubina de Gabriak. Voloshin and Dmitrieva invented a charming, beautiful, mysterious, exotic, catholic Spanish woman image. The poems of Cherubina de Gabriak are covered with religion, mysticism, devotion to Christ, alter ego and asceticism motifs.
