Abstract

Undeveloped and developing countries, which can not use all of the production factors, are in production with under-employment. This seems to be a major problem for economic growth and development. In today’s world, the employment of the workforce, one of the production factors, comes to mind when the employment figures are taken into account. Unemployment, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries, is the most important macroeconomic problem. Some economic and social problems are faced in countries where the unemployment rate is high. The aim of this study is to examine the comparative analysis method of employment figures starting from the period 1990-2010, whether there are successful policies in Turkey to prevent unemployment or not. The data analyzed about employment in this study was taken from Labor Force Statistics Database of Turkey Statistical Institute (TSI). The policies carried out to prevent the unemployment rate in Turkey was partly successful due to increasing population, also unemployment seems to be still one of the most important problems. As a solution to unemployment, policies should be aimed to increase the quality of labor by providing education-industry cooperation.
