Abstract

There are humans at the center of literature. Everything that concerns human beings manifests itself in literature. In the literary works, the cultural elements that we transfer from the past to the future have an important place. In almost all literary genres, the values of the people manifest themselves. These values formed by the people for centuries create the culture. The cultural elements have survived to the present day, from both verbal and written works. Folk science examines these cultural elements formed by the people and determines its place and importance in the life of the people. National identity and return-to-people works starting with national literature period gained momentum with Republic, and Anatolia and Anatolian people began to occupy a large place in the works. Talip Apaydın, who was born and raised in Anatolia and served in various districts of Anatolia, is a writer who successfully handles the traditions of the people in his works. In this article, we will examine the folkloric elements in the novel “Define” by Talip Apaydın.
