Abstract

Ulvi Cemal Erkin (1906-1972), who was one of the first generation contemporary Turkish composers widely known as The Turkish Five, composed Six Preludes solo piano album in the last years of his life. Prelude No.3 can be a subject to several methods of analysis. In the literature review, although there is already a study that performs form analysis on the work and provides technical advice on how the work should be played, no sound organization analysis on the mentioned prelude has been encountered. In this study, sound organization will be analyzed based on the intervals used, composer's preference for spelling the notes and pitch collections that are used, in addition, discussions will be made based on the unexpected mm. 63.
