Abstract

In order to improve the quality of Art Education, cultural values and different subjects of art education have been included in many educational researches by scientists. It is known that art gives a questioning perspective to all branches of profession and develops creativity. Developing positive attitudes of high school students who will make various occupational preferences through university entrance exams will support the students' communication skills with art language and contribute to produce creative solutions to problems in different fields. As a matter of fact, high school students are expected to be interested in art and different branches of art in the High School Visual Arts Course Curriculum. The main purpose of this study is to determine the attitudes of high school students towards cultural values and miniature art to develop a Likert-type scale called 'Student Attitude Scale for Cultural Values and Miniature Art' (KDMSÖTÖ). Mixed research design was used in the study and quantitative and qualitative data were benefited. The sample of the study consists of 486 high school students. The steps in the development of KDMSÖTÖ are as follows; Establishing the Theoretical Framework; Establishment of Substance Pool Consultation of Expert Opinions an Statistical Analysis for Validity and Reliability. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis was used to examine the construct validity of the KDMSÖTÖ. As a result, it was determined that the two-factor structure of KDMSÖTÖ explained a significant proportion of the total variance and the scores obtained from the scale were consistent with the two-factor structure. The KDMSÖTÖ was composed of 17 items in a 2-factor structure (attitude towards cultural values, attitude towards miniature art) and the reliability coefficient was Cronbach's Alpha 0.66 and 0.85.
