Abstract

In this paper, thoughts of Razî on moral philosophy will be compared with Epicurus and his followers considering concepts such as pleasure, pain, hate, fear of death and the effect of Epicurean thought on the formation of Razî’s ethical system will be discussed. The direct comparison of the ethical views of Razî and Epicurus together with the evaluation of its resources and limitations in order to better understand the historical trajectory of Naturalism, and the observation of how the concept of pleasure is shaped in different cultures, provides a solid and multi-dimensional basis for the study.
