Abstract
Yazılması ve okunması belli bir süreç ve kültür birikimi gerektiren ‘edebî roman’a karşılık; her kesime hitap eden, okunması fazla zaman almayan, genelde hızlı tüketilen ‘popüler roman’ da edebiyatımızda yadsınamayacak bir yere sahiptir. Reşat Nuri Güntekin, Çalıkuşu adlı edebî romanında döneminin eğitimle ilgili problemlerinin yanında eğitimli ve modern bir kadına toplumun bakışı gibi toplumsal bir durumu eserinde işlemiştir. Canan Tan’ın Piraye’sinde ise yine ana kahraman eğitimli bir kadındır. Farklı kültürden olan eşinin sosyal çevresiyle ilgili yaşadığı psikolojik durum sunulur. Her iki romanda olması gerekenle olanın çatışması yaşanır. Olması gereken romanların kahramanıyla somutlaşan, dolayısıyla anlatıcının iletmek istediği mesajdır. Her iki roman da bu ikisi arasındaki gerilimden doğar. Bunun yanında her iki romanda konuyu ele alış biçimleri, ifade ediş tarzları gibi edebî romanla popüler romanı birbirinden ayıran unsurlar yer alır. Bu makalede, adı geçen eserlerin konusu olan sosyal tipler, grupların davranışları, ana karakterlerin rolü incelenmiş ve popüler roman - estetik roman açısından sosyal psikoloji yönüne bir açıklama getirilmiştir.

Abstract
Writing and reading correspond to 'literary novel' which requires a certain process and culture accumulation; A popular novel that appeals to every segment, does not take much time to read, and often consumes fast, has a place that can not be denied in our literature. In his literary novel Çalıkuşu, Reşat Nuri Güntekin has been working on a social situation like the view of society towards educated and modern women besides the problems related to education of his era. In Canan Tan's Piraye, the main hero is a educated fellow. Psychological condition of the spouse of different cultures is presented. Both romans have a conflict with what should be. It is a message embodied in the hero of the novels that must be, and therefore the narrator wants to convey. Both novels arise from the tension between the two. In addition, both romans have elements that distinguish between literary novels and popular novels, such as the ways in which they are handled and the way they are expressed. In this article, the social types, behaviors of the groups, the role of the main characters in the mentioned works are examined and an explanation is given in terms of social psychology in terms of popular novel - aesthetic novel.
