Abstract
19. yüzyılda “bir ulusun ortak milli varlığı” olarak değerlendirilen müze koleksiyonları, 20. yüzyıldan itibaren “insanlığın kültür mirası” olarak tanımlanmış, müzenin temel sorumluluğu nesneden insana yönelmiştir. İnsanı/toplumu merkezine alan bu anlayışla günümüz müzeleri iletişimi temel işlevlerinden biri olarak benimserken, bunu gerçekleştirmelerinde en önemli dayanakları ise koleksiyon yönetimi anlayışları ve koleksiyon yönetimi politikaları olmuştur. Yazılı ve beyan edilmiş politikasıyla koleksiyon yönetimi, müzenin kendini tanımlamasına, koleksiyonlarına ilişkin önceliklerini belirlemesine dayalı kurumsal/kurum-içi bir yönetim anlayışı olmakla birlikte ülkenin genel müzecilik sisteminden bağımsız düşünülemez. Sistem, müzeye; kendini tanımlama, önceliklerini belirleme, sorumluluklarını bu çerçevede gerçekleştirebilme ve en önemlisi de bunları kamuyla paylaşma imkânı tanımıyorsa, müzelerde koleksiyon yönetiminden söz edilemez. Bu çerçevede çalışmanın amacı; müzelerde koleksiyon yönetimi kavramını değerlendirmek, önemini ortaya koymak ve Türkiye’de devlet müzelerinde uygulanabilirliğini tartışmaktır.

Abstract
Museum collections have described as cultural heritage of humanity from 20th century onwards, while they regarded as the common assets of a nation in 19th century. Hence the museum’s primary responsibility is directed to the human from the object and present day museums have adopted communication as one of their essential functions. This approach has been providing collections management and management policies. Collections management with its written policies cannot be considered independent from the general system of the country although it is an understanding on corporate governance that based on description of the museum itself and determine the priorities for its collections. It cannot talk about the existence of collections management, if the system does not give some opportunities to the museum (for example the opportunity of defining the museum itself, determining the collection priorities, performing the museum’s responsibilities in this context, especially sharing them with the public),. In this context, the purpose of the study is to evaluate the concept of collections management, to reveal its importance and to discuss its application possibilities at state museums in Turkey.
