Abstract

Sicilya ve Sardinya’dan sonra Akdeniz’deki üçüncü büyük ada olan Kıbrıs, jeopolitik ve stratejik konumu dolayısıyla tarih boyunca değişik medeniyet ve milletlerin ilgi odağı olmuştur. Tarih boyunca ada dışından gelen pek çok medeniyet için bir hedef teşkil eden Kıbrıs’la ilgili son dönemde meydana gelen gelişmeler, sadece adadaki Türk toplumu ve Türkiye’yi değil aynı zamanda uluslararası camiayı da etkilemektedir. Söz konusu gelişmeler, Kıbrıs’ın Ortadoğu petrolünün ulaşım yollarına egemen olması, Ortadoğu’dan Afrika’ya uzanan ekseni kontrol etmesi, Anadolu-Ortadoğu-Süveyş Kanalı hattına hâkim olması, Süveyş Kanalından Hint ve Pasifik Okyanusuna uzanan deniz yolunun kontrol noktalarından biri olması ve Ortadoğu’da petrol merkezli muhtemel bir savaşta depo görevini üstlenebilecek olması gibi sebeplere dayanmaktadır. Kıbrıs sorununda tarafların çok olması, çözüm sağlanamamasının en büyük nedenlerindendir. Bu çalışma kapsamında; Kıbrıs sorunu, tarihsel derinlik içinde ele alınarak, çözümü konusunda ekonomik, siyasi ve kültürel bağlamda atılabilecek adımlar irdelenecektir.

Abstract

Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily and Sardinia, has been the focus of interest of different civilizations and nations throughout history due to its geopolitical and strategic position. The recent developments in Cyprus, which have been a target for many civilizations from outside the island throughout history, have affected not only the Turkish community on the island and Turkey but also the international community. These developments are based on the reasons such as Cyprus's dominance of the transportation routes, its control of the axis from the Middle East to Africa, its control of the Anatolia-Middle East-Suez Canal line, its control point of the route from the Suez Canal to the Indian and Pacific Ocean, and its ability to assume the role of the task The fact that there are many sides in the Cyprus problem is one of the biggest reasons why a solution cannot be reached. Within the scope of this study; The steps that can be taken in the economic, political and cultural context of the Cyprus problem will be examined in historical depth.
