Abstract
Iris van Herpen, modada teknolojiyi kullanmakta öncü bir tasarımcı olarak ün kazanarak form oluşturma tekniğinin sınırlarını zorlamaktadır. Daha önce keşfedilmemiş yöntemlerle denemeler yapan van Herpen, üç boyutlu baskı gibi modern makinelerle, zaman zaman haute couture geleneklerine meydan okumuş, techno-couture kavramının sayılı örneklerini vermiştir. Herpen, 2011 yılından beri bilim adamları, sanatçılar ve mimarlarla işbirliği içinde yapılmış bir dizi koleksiyon sunmuştur. Çalışmalarının New York'taki Metropolitan Sanat Müzesi gibi kültürel kurumlar ve Massachusetts Teknoloji Enstitüsü gibi akademik kurumlar tarafından sergilenmektedir. Iris Van Herpen’in tasarımlarında teknolojinin gelenekselle buluşması dikkat çekmektedir. Teknolojinin hızlı üretim için kullanıldığı çağımızda, Herpen teknolojiyi el işçiliği ile birleştirerek giyim ve kumaşta farklı bir yaklaşım benimsemiştir. Van Herpen tasarımları ve uygulama şekli ile gelenekselliği birleştirerek kavramsal ve postmodernist bakış açısı yakalamıştır.

Iris van Herpen has earned a reputation as a pioneering technologist and has pushed the boundaries of form technique. Van Herpen, who experimented with previously unexplored methods, challenged haute couture traditions from time to time with modern machines such as three-dimensional printing and gave best samples of techno-couture concept. Since 2011, Herpen has presented a number of collections in collaboration with scientists, artists and architects. His work is exhibited by cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and academic institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In the designs of Iris Van Herpen, it is noteworthy that the technology meets the traditional. In our age, where technology is used for rapid production, Herpen has adopted a different approach to apparel and fabrics by combining technology with craftsmanship. Van Herpen combines conceptual and postmodernist perspectives, combining designs and practices with tradition.
