Abstract

Irak ve Şam İslam Devleti (IŞİD), Irak ve Suriye’nin geniş alanlarını kontrol eden, sahip olduğu etkili iletişim ve propaganda gücü sayesinde küresel anlamda destekçileri olan, gerçekleştirdiği terör faaliyetleriyle uluslararası güvenliği bozan bir terör örgütüdür. Bu meziyetlere sahip örgüt Irak ve Suriye’de güçlenirken ABD genel Ortadoğu politikasına bağlı olarak bölgeye pek müdahil olmamış, adeta örgütün büyümesine ve olaylara seyirci kalmıştır. Bu bağlamda bu çalışmada Obama döneminde IŞİD tehlikesinin ABD açısından belirginleşme süreci, ABD’nin bu tehlike karşısındaki reaksiyonları, örgütle mücadelede hangi yolları izlediği ve izlediği stratejinin sonuçları incelenmiştir.

Abstract

The Islamic State in Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) is a terrorist organization that controls large areas of Iraq and Syria, and it has global supporters thanks to its effective communication and propaganda power. Moreover, this terror organization disrupts international security its terrorist activities. While the organization that has virtues, was strengthened in Iraq and Syria, the US did not intervene in the region owing to the middle east policy and remained the audience of the organization's growth and events. In this context, in this study, the process of becoming clear of the ISIS threat for the US during the Barack Obama period, the reactions of the USA to this danger, which ways it followed the conflict against the organization and the results of the strategy it follows are examined.
