Abstract

CONNECTING TO PARENTS IN ADOLESCENTS WITH OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DİSORDER
Introduction: Bowlby explained the attachment theory first. The attachment in the first years of life affects the subsequent psychopathological process. Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is defined as anxiety disorders in the classification criteria of current mental disorders; it is defined by repetitive behaviors that engage the mind in a repetitive way and reduce anxiety with thoughts that increase anxiety. The aim of this study was to compare the binding characteristics of healthy adolescents with other adolescents with OCD. Method: The study group consisted of 30 OCD adolescents aged 12-18 years who were admitted to our outpatient clinic. The first control group (polyclinic control) and different psychiatric diagnoses of adolescents to be matched with the study group of age and gender as close as possible, in the stories of OCD and other group anxiety disorder, mental and motor retardation, pervasive developmental disorders, psychosis, epilepsy and other neurological disorders It was obtained. The second control group (healthy control) was evaluated by the school guidance and classroom teachers, and it was predicted that they would be successful students with no harm in school and at home. The parents of the whole group were searched for their parents' right and living together. The attachment characteristics of the parents and their mothers were linked to the parents with the short form of attachment (EABE) and the sociotropy-autonomy scale (SOSOTS) was used to assess the personality traits of all participants based on dependence and autonomy. Results: When the attachment characteristics were examined, there was no difference between the OCD group and healthy controls, and there was a difference in the controls with disease. (p <0.05) When the attachment scores were compared, the mean score of the mother was 37.0; father attachment mean 35.1; While the parental attachment score was 72.1, the OCD was higher than the average with the highest score and healthy groups, while the other control group had scores below the mean. When the sociotopy and autonomy scores were considered, the healthy group had high scores, while the adolescents with OCD were in second place and the group with different psychiatric diagnoses had the lowest scores. Discussion: There was no significant correlation between attachment safety and OCD and the fact that participants included all periods of adolescence. As it is known, attachment and emotional investments in late adolescence may be transferred from mother to father. In general, the absence of avoidant characteristics can be used to differentiate OCD from other anxiety disorders in general.
